As part of our ongoing Made in Chinatown merchandise initiative to support Chinatown businesses during the pandemic, we’re excited to launch our latest collaboration with Thailicious. The collection is a visual representation of the fresh herbs and ingredients used in traditional Thai cuisine, and our design team worked closely with Jay Lue — the owner and manager of Thailicious — to bring the restaurant to life.
Founded in 2016 with two locations in Chinatown and the Lower East Side, Thailicious serves up delicious Thai cuisine in a funky yet cozy cafe setting. Designed by Lessa Chung and illustrated by Mei Kanamoto, customer favorites like papaya salad and mango sticky rice are immortalized in this three-piece collection consisting of a hoodie, T-Shirt, and tote bag.
The collection is a homage to the bright herbs and fresh ingredients characteristic of Thai cuisine. The bright yellow tones used throughout are a nod to the interior of the restaurant and the walls in both locations are adorned with a curated selection of cookware and utensils.
The hoodie design features fresh ingredients and signature dishes from the expansive Thailicious menu. The back features a large illustration of papaya salad, while the sleeve detail also includes the Thailicious logo, seafood tom yum noodle soup, and coconut rice.
The double-sided tote bag features an eclectic mix of ingredients, cookware, and dishes on one side, and a bold typographic statement on the other. Finally, the T-Shirt highlights three customer favorites in a unique illustrative design: papaya salad, basil beef, and mango sticky rice. The Thailicious logo on the front—placed over the heart—is a simple way to show your love for this tasty cuisine.
As always, 100% of profits from each purchase will go directly to Thailicious. Thank you for helping us help Chinatown!
